The Dance of Hair

The Scoot and I got the best laugh from baby unit last night when I took my hair restraints out to re-secure them and shook my hair out. He laughed when I shook my hair so tossed it and then whipped it around in circles (surprisingly my neck is not sore today). Apparently mommy's hair in the air is the funniest thing in the world to a 4.5 month old. What a laugh! The best one to date.

Knitting Fiend

This is my first fitted adult sized clothing item. I modified the "Wrenna" pattern from "French Girl Knits" by shortening the body (yes, it's supposed to be cropped length) and lengthening the cap sleeve. I'm really happy with the fit and fabric texture. It's made with Malabrigo Aquarella - a "thick and thin" yarn that creates interesting variations in the stitch sizes. The super chunky yarn and large needles (size 15) make for quick knitting. I bet it took me less than 10 hours to finish the sweater.

I also made myself a hat from Malabrigo worsted. I improvised this hat pattern using part of the cable pattern from the capelet I finished a couple of weeks ago. I'm really happy with how it turned out.

A day in the life...

Daddy wraps me in my little moster towel after a warm shower with mommy.

Mommy lets me wear green and the kitty watches me play with my toys.

Daddy plays with me while mommy makes me pose in my new knitted hat.

I am the cutest baby ever!

Knitted Capelet

I made something for myself! I knitted most of this while we were in California visiting Oma and Opa McCusker a little over a week ago. I had plenty of time to knit while The Scoot, Oma, and Opa held and played with baby unit.

Animals!

Torin having a quick snack on his first trip to the zoo. We were there for three hours and he slept in the sling almost the entire time. It was cool and gray. We practically had the zoo all to ourselves and many of the animals were out.

Mountain goats at the entrance/exit. I got this picture on the way out.

This polar bear is sooooo beautiful!

A fake elephant

Another fake elephant. I saw lots of real elephants including the baby, but I didn't get a good picture. I forgot I had a smart phone with a camera and didn't start taking pictures until I saw others taking pictures with their phones. By the time I realized I too could take pictures the baby elephant was back in the cage enclosure and I didn't think that would make a very nice picture.

Basking lions posing for the camera

Three wolves were howling. Torin woke up long enough to whimper and then went back to sleep.

Tulips

I made this little sweater over the summer while I was pregnant. It's a little big on him, but it still looks pretty cute! On Sunday Scott told me that if I don't quit calling him "Cute Boy" Torin will be introducing himself as such. For the record, I call him "Sweet Boy" at least half the time.

Tinkle Tinkle Little Tot ...

Going pee pee on the Pot

We caught our first poop today! Yay! It was dumb luck really, but it sure is easier to do a quick wipe rather than mining milk fed goo from nooks and crannies. I dare you to look at those chubby little legs and tell me you can't imagine nooks and crannies. Torin enjoys his potties, the silly sounds we make, and the special song we sing to the tune of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star." I'm still mostly basing his "need" on timing, but he does pee in the pot quite frequently and will often go all morning without his diaper without a miss. Constant vigilance!
